UFC 229 is a fight between McGregor and his successor at the summit of the lightweight division has been on the cards for nearly two years.
The eagerness to see the pair lock horns with one another exploded at the UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn, where McGregor threw a dolly through the window of a bus carrying the new lightweight champion and his fellow fighters.
Late last month, Nurmagomedov claimed his eagerly-anticipated showdown with McGregor is in the works, though that claim was emphatically dismissed by UFC president Dana White.
But according to Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap, negotiations have been ongoing and the biggest fight in UFC history is currently slated for UFC 229, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 6.
